What is Stand Together?

Stand together is a one of a kind collective; a united front of drum and bass labels seeking to highlight issues of race, inequality and tolerance in the scene. By different initiatives, this globally committed group of D&B labels have dedicated to standing together and showing solidarity with marginalised people everywhere.

By creating this collective we hope people will want to engage with the problems We aim to educate people, including ourselves, to allow us all to reflect on ourselves to understand what we can do better. We believe in leading by example.
We want to be the change we want to see in the world and we sincerely hope that, by creating something powerful and unique that people can relate to, we can empower everyone to make positive movements in making drum and bass a supportive and welcoming place.

Challenge your thinking

Challenge the way you think. Challenge the way you see. There will be some things that you may think are okay and insignificant, but actually aren’t. A lot of people say drum and bass is an open-minded and welcoming space and, while it is most of the time, crucially it’s not all the time. Things that still aren’t right and we all need to work to fix that.

Acknowledge the problem

A lot of people think there isn’t a problem because they don’t see one. It’s easy to ignore when ‘it doesn’t affect me’ but actually, to start fixing things we need to face up to it, take a step back and see the problem.

Recognise our heritage

By looking at our history and rich heritage of where D&B came from we can better understand what the music represents and how to reflect that ethos in our releases, lineups and aesthetics

Accessibility

We want drum and bass to be an open and accepting environment. However, we recognise it can be daunting to newcomers who don’t understand the complexities and history of the scene. We want to encourage new artists and DJs to step forward into the spotlight no matter their race, gender or background.
